________________ NOTES Chapter 1 - Introduction 1. The British Red Cross Society Equal Opportunities Policy Statement of 15.7.91 (Ref: P 2/91: UK/BS/HV/SGA says of Religious Services: 'It is fundamental to the Principles of the Red Cross that members of all faiths, and of none, are equally welcome. Also that the Society provides its services on an equally impartial basis. It is important that no official single faith Red Cross service should be initiated and held which could give rise to any other public perception. Where such services currently exist, Branches should seek alternative celebrations. Red Cross members, friends and and other officials should not, however, be discouraged from representing the Society at religious services of any faith, if invited to attend by other organisations: or from attending Remembrance services; or from organising events such as carol concerts for members of Red Cross clubs'.
