________________ The Anthology Virtues Sing hymns at sunrise, remember God while doing chores The Guru favours a disciple Who remembers God with every breath. (Adi Granth) So, let all strive with thought, word and deed to satisfy Mazda. Let each one choose to perform good deeds as his worship. (Yasna) A good character is, verily, the best mantle from God. With it He adorneth the temple of His loved ones. By my life! The light of a good character surpasseth the light of the sun and the radiance thereof. (The Advent of Divine Justice) Truth is supreme But higher than truth is truthful living. (Adi Granth) Truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtues. Without truthfulness, progress and success, in all the worlds of God, are impossible for any soul. When this holy attribute is established in man, all the divine qualities will be acquired. (Baha'i World Faiths) Hear and give heed to these truths, O, Men and Women. Strive to avoid the lures of this material life and stop the progress of untruth and deceit. (Yasna) The man who wisely controls his senses as a good driver controls his horses, and who is free from lower passions and pride, is admired even by the gods. (Sutta-Nipata) Those who can avoid the bondage of (sinful) acts can attain liberation; and those who have obtained liberation are free from bondage. O Man! Control yourself and you will be free from misery. Renouncing anger, pride, deceit and greed one is able to free himself from bondage of all acts. (Acharanga Sutra) Goodness, love, grace and gentleness, courtesy, friendship and modesty, honesty, penance and chastity, charity, respect, reverence and truthfulness, purity and self-control, wisdom and worshipall these together are perfect virtue, and are the word of the loving Lord.
