6. THE MEDITATION
All remain seated for The Introduction
We have heard from the teachings of the world's great religions this afternoon. We have recognised that we are stewards - not owners - of the earth. We have affirmed the worth of each human being, and the values by which we must strive to live.
We all fall short of these great teachings. Men and women can, and do, live without values, but, without them, we cannot begin to live well.
Let us pray that the great ideals that we have affirmed this afternoon will increasingly be realised in the lives of individuals, and of nations, both within the Commonwealth and throughout the world.
All remain seated.
Sheona White, tenor horn, plays: Greensleeves Music: Anonymous tune, arranged by Stuart Pullin
during which members of the London Studio Centre perform an interpretative dance.
All remain seated for a short period of silent reflection, followed by The Prayer for Peace
The Prayer for Peace
Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth
Lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace.
Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe .....
Peace * Peace * Peace
Words:Satish Kumar, a member of the Jain community;

I was hungry and thirsty, were you there? Chorus: And the creed ...
