________________ Interfaith Services organisation and are under one law from which they will never depart. ( Abdu'l Baha, Some Answered Questions, Chap XLVI p. 207 ) This is our offering. This is our offering, we are united in caring for the world in which we live, as each petal takes its perfect form, we shall cradle it. Buddhism - We have brought a miniature sculpture of a Bo Tree, it was under a Bo Tree that we believe the Buddha achieved enlightenment. It is highly revered in Buddhism. The sculpture is placed on the table in the middle of the room We have decided to read an extract from Thich Nhat Hanh's 'Earth Gathas' which highlight the Buddhist idea that in order to help the state of the environment we need to change our attitude. No longer seeing the Earth as something separate from ourselves, but seeing everything as interconnected. We need the Earth, and the Earth needs us: Earth Gathas The green Earth is a miracle! Walking in full awareness, the wondrous Dharakaya is revealed. Water flows from the high mountains. Water runs deep in the Earth. Miraculously, water comes to us and sustains all life. Garbage becomes rose. Rose becomes compost Everything is in transformation. Even permanence is impermanent. Dear plant, do not think you are alone. This stream of water comes from Earth and sky. The water is the Earth. We are together for countless lives. I entrust myself to Buddha; Buddha entrusts himself to me. I entrust myself to Earth; Earth entrusts herself to me (Nhat Hanh] Parallax Press (4) This is our offering This is our offering, we are united in caring for the world in which we live, as each petal takes its perfect form, we shall cradle it. -131
