________________ All in Good Faith Compassion The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (From a Song of David in the Psalms) God does not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear. (Holy Qu'ran) Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it for me. (The New Testament) Have contentment in your mind, And compassion towards all beings. (Adi Granth) Seek to do brave and lovely things that are left undone by the majority of people. Give gifts of love and peace to those whom others pass by. (Parmahansa Yogananda) Beware lest ye offend any heart, lest ye speak against any one in his absence, lest ye estrange yourselves from the servants of God. You must consider all His servants as your own family and relations. Direct your whole effort towards the happiness of those who are despondent, bestow food upon the hungry, clothe the needy and glorify the humble. Be a helper to every helpless one, and manifest kindness to your fellow creatures in order that you may attain the good pleasure of God. ('Abdu'l-Baha: The Promulgation of Universal Peace) Here is thy footstool and there rest thy feet where live the poorest, and lowliest, and lost. When I try to bow to thee, my obeisance cannot reach down to the depth where thy feet rest among the poorest, and lowliest, and lost. Pride can never approach to where thou walkest in the clothes of the humble among the poorest, the lowliest, and lost. My heart can never find its way to where thou keepest company with the companionless among the poorest, the lowliest, and the lost. (Rabindranath Tagore) - 74 -
