________________ All in Good Faith Be it thy will, O Eternal God, to cause us to dwell in love, companionship, peace, and friendship; to widen our boundaries through disciples, to prosper our goal with hope and with future, to appoint us a share in the Garden of Eden, to direct us in thy world through good companions and good impulse, that we may rise in the morning and find our heart waiting to fear thy name. (Talmud) This is my prayer to thee, my Lord, strike at the root of penury in my heart, give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows; give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service; give me the strength never to disown the poor or bend my knees before insolent might; give me the strength to raise my mind above daily trifles and give me the strength to surrender my strength to thy will, with love. (Rabindranath Tagore) Our loving Father, help us to remember thee always, as the God of our family, as the bond of our union, as our Protector and Guide, and as our Master whose holy will we are to do in all our actions. Fill our hearts with love and enable us to give to everyone the love, reverence and tenderness that are due to him or her. May we love and honour our parents in heart, word and deed, treat our brothers and sisters with uniform kindness and tenderness. May husband and wife be ever true to their holy union and may parents set an example of kind and holy behaviour to their children. Enable us all to bear patiently with the defects and shortcomings of one another, to serve one another, and help one another in difficulties, and keep us free from anger and selfishness. Give us strength to do our allotted duties faithfully and enable us to realise, by living sweet and holy lives, the ideal of a happy and blessed home. (Brahmo Samaj) Remembering that God is love, a Christian is conformed to the same likeness. He is full of love to his neighbour: of universal love, not confined to one sect or party, not restrained to those who agree with him in opinions, or in outward modes of worship, or to those who are allied to him by blood or recommended by nearness of place. Neither does he love those only that love him, or that are endeared to him by intimacy of acquaintance. But his love resembles that of him whose mercy is over all his works. It soars above all these scanty bonds, embracing neighbours and strangers, friends and enemies; yes, not only the good and gentle but also the froward, the evil and unthankful. For he loves every soul that God has made, every child of man, of whatever place or nation. (John Wesley) - 90
