sketchy to be of considerable help for the textual criticism of the TM proper, though it endeavours to assist in understanding all the difficult passages of the TM, 8 Prof. H. D. Velankar has noted in all seven Mss. stored in different Jain Bhāndāras of Gujarat. 9 It is partly published along with the Parāga commentary on the TM in 1952 A.D. But the text of this Tippanaka as printed therein is rather defective.
For my purpose, I have utilized a photostat of this work also which was procured for me by respected Muni Shri Punyavijayaji. It has been preserved in his Bhandara at the Ludasāwāda Upasraya, Ahmedabad. The photostat consists of twenty photographic plates of eighty-three folios of a Palm-Leaf Ms. of the work. The plates were specially prepared for me from the L.D. Institute library Microfilm Roll No. 7, shots Nos. 279-288, of the above-mentioned palm-leaf folios (35.5 x 5 cms, in size) preserved in the Sanghavipādā Bhaḥdāra, Patan,
(2) Tādapatriya - Pranta - tippaņi (i. e. marginal notes) in the P Ms. :- The author of this commentary 10 is unknown to us as yet. On the orthographical grounds it might be guessed that it was the scribe himself of the Ms., as these notes are written in the same handwriting in which the textual discrepancies are supplied in the margin. Again, the tendency of preference for ‘s' in particular words, e.g, in “vikāša', and for the visarga where normally 's' is expected, e.g. in 'nih karuna', also indicates to the same probability. These marginal notes might also be the work of Muni Jnānakalasa who taught the TM to Muni Merunandana about 1375 A.D., as is clear from the Colophone of the P Ms. noticed in the Critical Appartus.
The author of the marginal notes haş referred to the Haimalingānušāsana, 11 and has often quoted from Hemacandra's Nāmamāla 12 (also known as Abhidhāna-cintamani) and the Anekārtha-sangraha, 13 the latter being referred to as "yadane-" etc., when

I have alrealy published them with the Critical Text of the TM, in Part I of this work 11. e. g. कस्वर धनम् । यत् हैमलिंगानुशासने पुनपुंसकलिं गेषु श्वादयो कस्वरे कृच्छ्र व्रते इत्यादि
