Anybody who merely glances at random at the verses readily catches the charm of the masterly poetic touch quite independently developed by the author himself, 12 who has fully inherited the poetic talents from his poet father. Prof. Velankar has mentioned that this work was published by the Hemacandra Sabha, Patan. 13 But my inquiries in the matter have not confirmed this point. 14 A paper Ms. of the work is preserved in the Kāntivijayaji Bhandra (No. 2037; folias 22; size 28 x 12.5 cms.) at the Atmaram Jain Jnana Mandira, Baroda. 15 (2) Tilakamanjari - katha -sära :- This compendium of the TM was composed in V.Sam. 1281 16 (i.e. about 1225. A.D:) within twenty years after the successful attempt of Pallipala Dhanapāla. Published in 1919 A.D. by Hemacandra. Sabha, Patan, it consists of 1188 Anuştubh verses. Nothing more is known about the author of this work except that his name was Lakşmidhara and that he was a "Svetāmbara Pandita". 17 who seems to have been a devout Jain. 18 He has followed the frame work of the original: j.e: the TM, faithfully as has been promised by him at the outset of his work 19 and has summarized the story in a simple and easy Sanskrit, incorporating a 11.
