________________ 94 23. In place of this first half, the following verse is found in "P": [तस्स] बहुकलाकुसलो सिद्धान्तवियाणओ कई दक्खो । आयरियदेवगुतो अजवि विवर किती ॥ 24, In "J" this latter half is not complete, In "P" it is as follows:सिवचन्दगणी अह महयरोति सो एत्थ आगओ देसा । 25. This first is missing in “p". 26. “p" has got तववीरियलद्धचरण संपण्णा. 27. In "P" this whole verse is missing. 28. This first half is as under in "P": आगासवप्पनयरे वडेसरो आसि जो खमासमणो । 29. "p" has got signif 30. This first half is as under in "P" तस्य य आयरधरो तत्तायरिओति नामसारगुणो । Some Aspects of Indian Culture 31. In "J" this later half as seen in the verse is not complete. In "P" it is complete and runs as follows: आसि तवतेयनिजियपावतमोहो दिणयरव्व ॥ 32. The first part of this gātha is missing in "J" and therefore it has been given from “p". 33, “P” has got लग्राणखंभो व्व निक्कंपो । 34. "p has got अवावरो। 35. It is this very gāthā which has helped me materially in fixing the date of Haribhadra. In "P" this gatha has got a different reading and is of an incomplete nature. It is as follows: सो सिद्धन्तगुरू प्रमाणनायेण जस्स हरिभद्दो | म (ब) हुगन्धसत्यविश्रपयसत्यत्यो । This gatha is not sufficiently understandable as it is incomplete, looking from the view-point of metrical measurement. After much thought, it occurred to me that the first part of this verse must have connection with Virabhadra referred in the second part of the preceding verse and the remaining three phrases should be taken with reference to Haribhadrasûri. From that I imagined the following version : Jain Education International सो सिद्धन्त [[म] गुरु (रू): पमाणमा तृण (अ) जस्स हरिमद्दो | बहुगन्यसत्यवित्थरपयड [ समतल ] सम्बत्यो || (See Jaina Sahitya Samśodhaka, Part I No. 1 pp. 52 ) Dr. Jacobi has also considered my emendation mentioned above as consistent and he has taken notice to the following effect in the introduction of his Samaraditya katha-"The passage in which Haribhadra is referred to is corrupt as shown by the metre. In the Ms. of the Deccan College, the only that seems to be available, it runs thus :- सो सिद्धन्त (Just as above). Muniraj Jinavijaya has satisfactorily emended the text and supplied the missing syllables as follows: सो सिद्धान्त गुरु० (the whole verse as above). The first Pada is connected with the preceding verse which eulogises For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
