________________ 132 Some Aspects of Indian Culture दुल्लह (Rare) १६ अकए व्व कए व्व पिए पियकारे ता जमि दीसति । कयविप्पिए पियं जे, करें ति दुल्लहा होति ।। (७.३३) 16. Those who do good (to others), even though good has not been done or done (to them), are found amongst people. But those people are rare who do good (to others) even though bad is done (to them). (7; 33). धुव-अधुव (Certain; Uncertain) १७ संसइयस्स कए ण, निस्संसइयं कहं इम चयसि ? | ___ मूढो तुममच्चत्थं, न मुणसि कज्ज अकज्ज वा ।। १८ ता जह सो संतत्तो, पच्छायावेण तह तुम पेच्छि । संतमसंतस्स कए, चयमाणो नाह ! तपिहिसि ।। (९.५-६). १९ मंस चइऊण धुर्ब अधुव पत्थेसि कोल्हुया ! मीणं । धुवमधुवाणं चुक्को, अप्पमइ एत्थ तं मुद्ध | ॥ (१९.५५) 17. Why dost thou throw away this (thing) which is certain for the sake of a thing which is uncertain? Thou art exceedingly stupid as thou dogt not know what is fit to be done and what is not fit to be done. 18. Therefore, just as he was aggrieved with remorse, thou wilt also, oh! lord ! as thou hast seen, be aggrieved with remorse, abandoning a thing which is existing, for a thing which is not existing. (9. 5-6). 19. Giving up this piece of mutton which is certain, thou art oh! jackal! hankering after a fish which is not certain, Thou wilt be proving thyself, oh ! fool ! of meagre intellect as thou wilt thereby be deprived of both the certain and uncer. tain things. (11. 55). परदार (Other's Wife) २० परदार चिय अइभीमबिसमदोसायर महापाव । उभओवकखदुहयरं भवनिग्गमवज्जपायार' ।। (1६.७०) 20. (Contact with) other's wife is a mine of very terrific and varied vices, is highly sinful, is a cause of unhappiness for both the parties and is part of adamant (blocking the way) to get out of existence. (16. 70). पियजण (Dear One) २१ ताव च्चिय होइ सुह', जाव न कीरइ पिओ जणो को वि पियसंगो जेण कओ, दुक्खाण सममपिओ अप्पा ।। (१६.१) 21. One remains happy so long as one does not make any one dear to himself or herself. One who has established contact with one who is dear to himself or berself, hands over himself or herself to miseries. (16. 66).
