________________ 152 Some Aspects of Ining Culturo (6) Ardhamagadhi got its name because it was either the spoken language of half of the Magadha or it had in it an admixture of Magadbi, half to half; (7) Tripitakas were subjected to writing before the Jaina Canon was subjected to writing; (8) therefore, Pali of the Tripitakas is older than Ardhamagadhi of the Jaina Canon.
