________________ CHAPTER VII 159 ज्ञानगुणैर्विहीना एतत्तु पद बहवोऽपि न लभन्ते । तद्गृहाणसु पदमिद यदीच्छसि कर्मपरिमोक्षम् ॥२०५॥ ____ 205 Those who are devoid of this attribute of knowledge even though their efforts be several, do not attain this state If you desire complete liberation from bondage, you must contemplate upon this pure state of knowledge COMMENTARY What is contemplated is the ideal One who contemplates is the person who desires the ideal By constant contemplation of the ideal, a person aiming at the goal comes nearer and nearer to it till he finds himself identified with that very ideal This psychic effort of aiming at the ideal through the act of contemplation is here pointed out as the necessary means of realising the true nature of the Self Further it is implied that the nature of the ideal contemplated upon is of great importance The popular view that one who contemplates with devotion upon an ideal whose nature may be anything is really contemplating upon the supreme paramātma, is incompatible with the Jaina Siddhānta एदम्हि रदो णिच्च सतुटठो होहि णिच्चमेदम्हि । एदेण होहि तित्तो तो होहदि तुह उत्तम सोक्ख ॥२०६॥ Edamhı rado nichcham santutto hohı nichchamedamhi Edena hohi titto to hohadi tuha uttamam sokkham, (206) एतस्मिन् रतो नित्य सन्तुष्टो भव नित्यमेतस्मिन् । एतेन भव तप्त तर्हि भविष्यति तवोत्तम सौख्यम् ॥२०६॥ 206 Oh! Good Soul (Turning away from the sense pleasures and fixing your attention always on the pure nature of the Self), always be in love with it and hence be happy and satisfied, for surely that will lead you to the future everlasting supreme bliss of moksha को णाम भणिज्ज बुहो परदव्व मममिद हवदि दव्व । अप्पाणमप्पणो परिग्गह त णियद वियाणतो ॥२०७॥ Ko nama bhanuja vuho paladawam mamamıdam havodi davvam Appănamappano pariggabam tu niyadam viyānanto (207)
