________________ पासडिय लिगाणिव गिलिगाणि व वहुप्पयाराणि । चित्तु वदति मढा लिगमिण मोक्खमग्गोत्ति ॥ ४०८।। Paklındıyalıngānı yn gıhalinganiva vahuppayārānī Ghtttum. vadanti mādha lingaminam mokkhamaggotti (408) पासडिलिङ्गानि वा गृहलिडगानि वा बहुप्रकाराणि । गृही वा वदन्ति मृढा लिडगमिद मोक्षमार्ग इति ॥४०८।। 408 Fools put on vajious types of insignia of false ascetics 01 houscholders and maintain that this outer mark constitutes the path to mokshat" णदु होइ मोक्वमग्गो लिग ज देहणिम्ममा अरिहा । लिग मुचित्त दसणणाणचरित्ताणि सेवेति ॥४०९।। Nodu hoyi mokhhamaggo lingam jam dehanımmama arıhâ Lingam muchittu damsananānacharittānı sevanti (409) न तु भवति मोक्षमार्गो लिङगयद्देहनैर्ममा अर्हन्त । लिडग मुवत्वा दर्शन ज्ञान चारित्ताणि सेवन्ते ॥४०९।। 409 Bodily mark is not certainly the path of emancipation (15 cvident from the fact that) the Arhuts discard thc bodily murk by clisowning the body itself and deyote their attention only to right belief, knowledge and conduct णवि एस मोक्खमग्गो पासडी गिहमयाणि लिगाणि । दसणणाणचरित्ताणि मोक्खमग्ग जिणा विति ॥४१०॥ Navi esa mokkhamaggo pakhandi gihamayanı linganı Damsananānacharittanı mokkhamaggam jinā vinti (410) नाप्येष मोक्षमार्ग पापण्डिगृहमयानि लिङगानि । दर्शनज्ञानचरित्राणि मोक्षमार्ग जिना वदन्ति ॥४१०॥ 410 The insignia of false ascetics or householders never (constitute) the path of emancipation The Jinas declare that faith, knowledge and conduct (together constitute) the path of emancipation COMMENTARY Thus it is further emphasised that it is not the bodily mark but the spiritual qualities that constitute the path to salvation
