________________ णिदियसथुयवयणाणि पोग्गला परिणमति बहुगाणि । ताणि सुणिऊण रुसइ तूसइ पुणो अह भणिओ ॥३७३॥ Nindiya santhuya vayanānı poggalā parinamanti vahugānī Tānı su nivuna rusayı tusayı puno aham bhanivo (373) निन्दितसस्तुतवचनानि पुद्गला परिणमन्ति बहुकानि । तानि श्रुत्वा रुष्यति तुष्यति च पुनरह भणित ॥३७३॥ 373 Words of blame or praise are (only) sound produced by material particles modified in various forms On hearing them one gets angry or pleased thinkittg, “I am addressed thus" पोद्गलदव्व सद्दत्तपरिणय तस्स जइ गुणो अण्णो । तम्हा ण तुम भणिओ किचिवि कि रुससि अबुहो ।।३७४॥ Poggala davvam sadutta parinayam tassa jayı guno anno Tamha na tumam bhaniyo kimchivi kim rusase abuho (374) पुग्गलद्रव्य शब्दत्वपरिणत तस्य यदि गुणोऽन्य । तस्मान्न त्व भणित किचिदपि कि रुष्यस्यबुध ॥३७४॥ 374 As words are really produced by modification of material particles, therefore their properties are entirely different from that of yours Hence you are not in any way addressed by them Why do you get angry? Oh, ignorant person असुहो सुहोव सद्दो ण त भणइ सुणसु म ति सो चेव । ण य एइ विएिग्गहिउ सोयविसयमागय सद्द ॥३७५॥ Asuho suho va saddo na tam bhanayı sunasu mantı so cheva Naya eyi viniggahıyum soya visayamāgayam saddam (375) अशुभ शुभो वा शब्द न त्वा भणति शृणु मामिति स एव । न चैति विनिर्ग्रहीतु श्रोत्रविषयमागत शब्दम् ॥३७५॥ 375. A bad or good word does not of its own accord say to thee “Hear me” Even when the sound reaches the organ of hearing it does not arrive there to seize your attention (by force) असुह सुह च रूव ण त भणइ पेच्छ म ति सो चेव । णय एइ विणिग्गहिउ चक्खुविसयमागय रूव ॥३७६॥ Asuham suham cha ruvam na tam bhanayı pechcha mantı so cheva Naya eyi viniggahıyum chakkhuvisayamägayam ruvam (376)
