Just as an itchy (person) scratching himself regards that suffering (caused by itching) as pleasure, so also the infatuated persons consider suffering caused by desire to be pleasure. 21. The ignorant, dull and foolish person who is absorbed in the vice of craving for sensuous enjoyments, who is of perverted mind in regard to prosperity and spiritual upliftment is bound by Karmas (psycho-physicial impurities), just as a fly is caught in phlegm. 22. (Though) the suffering greatly caused by birth, old age and death is apprehended and contemplated, yet 'one is not able to detach oneself from the sensual pleasures. Oh! the knot of hyposcrisy has been tied strongly. 23 to 25. In the person who is really involved in the world, the impure psychical states occur because of this involvement). From the impure psychical states the Karma (impure material particles) as such comes into being and from the Karma (his) transmigration in the (four) grades of existence takes place. 24. From the Jiva who has transmigrated to a grade of existence, the body arises and from the body senses come into being. By means of the senses, there is the seizing of the sense-objects. By reason of that attachment and aversion occur. 25.
