42 is an interesting word as being a false Arabicism rhyming to following. The word is really a cauldron. The verse means "the pot, the sword, the victory, the conquest, Garu Gobind Singh obtained from NAnak":"the pot" corresponding to the purse," for with the old Panjab Chiefs he that could fill the stomachs of his followers was sure to obtain many.
