TWO HARSOLA GRANTS OF PARAMARA SIYAKA OF V. 8. 1005. 241
Modass in Prantij taluka of the District of Ahmadabad. The villages granted vis., Kumbhärö taka and Sihaka can be identified with the present Kamrod and Sikä situated at a distance of 13 miles to the east and 8 miles to the south of Modasa, respectively. Sivanatha, the shrine on the Mahi, which was the place of the king's encampment, can be identified with Sarnal, lying near the place where the Mahi is now crossed by the Anand-Godhra Section of the B., B. & C. I. Ry. It is still looked upon with sanctity in the neighbourhood and has an ancient Siva temple named Galtesvara which is now a protected monument. It is near the village of Janod owned by a Thakur in the Thasra taluka of the Kaira District, and can be approached by the railway station Angadi on the Anand-Godhra line. Anandapura was the original home of the Nagara Brahmans and is now represented by Vadnagar, a town in the Kheralu taluk of the Kadi prant, Baroda State. It is noteworthy that these documents give us the earliest known epigraphical mention of the Nagaras though Brahmanas hailing from Anandapur are mentioned in some Valabhi inscriptions.
