GREAT ACHARYA VIKRAM SURISHWARJI
WHO PROPAGATED BHAKTAMARA THRU'OUT INDIA Reverend acharya Sri Vikramsurisvarji Maharaj was very simple and a great devotee of jinas. His heart was swayed by Bhaktamara. He made the Bhaktamara resonate in the heart of every devotee by his divine musical rendering. His boundless grace alone has made the present work possible.
He was born on 16th June 1916 in a small village named Chhani in modern Gujarat. His mother was Smt. Prasanna and father Sri Chhotubhai. He renounced the world at the very young age of fourteen and followed the life of hermits. He was obedient and attended on his teacher till the last breath of the latter. He flowered into a great scholar during this time.
He went on a pilgrimage and toured the entire India. He had come to be known as a great jainacharya, and second to none at that. Some five hundred jain adherents went on a pilgrimage to all jain sacred centres under his spiritual guidance. That was held as a unique achievement in the history of Jainism. The auspicious renovation of sacred temple of Bharuch was undertaken with his blessings. His mantric-power and seer-hood (i.e; one whose words are unfailing) were well known. He was the proponent of unification of jain sects. He was speaker par-excellence. A number of laymen had performed many a penance under his inspiration and guidance. He was naturally kind and compassionate. He endeared himself to one and all. He was an erudite scholar and uncompromising logician too. Both his prose and poetry works help thousands of people lead a good life.
Hundreds of his disciples found in all parts of India try to make Jainism a honoured religion by their efforts.
