Daśāśrutaskandha mentions that in a pure mind free from attachment and hatred the meditation in form of the concentration of mind unprecedented is feasible. These ten means of mind concentration (citta-samādhi) are religious meditation or that unprecedented (desire) born to known the whole religion, dreaming or that unprecedented dreaming conforming the reality (yathātathya), knowledge of the rational five sensed being or that unprecedented knowledge recollecting the past life, beholding the god or to behold that unprecedented divine attainments of gods, divine luster of gods, divine powers of gods, origin of unprecedented clairvoyance knowledge or that universe (i.e. matter) knowing clairvoyance, origin of unprecedented clairvoyance belief or that universe (i.e. matter) perceiving clairvoyance, origin of unprecedented telepathy or that knowing the modes of the minds of the two and half continent and sea's rational beings'; of five-sensed [beings] and of [beings] acquired completion, origin of unprecedented perfect knowledge or that whole (kevala) universe knowing (knowledge), origin of unprecedented perfect belief or that whole (kevala) universe knowing (Knowledge), origin of unprecedented perfect belief or that whole (kevala) universe perceiving belief), death in stage of perfect knowledge or death for annihilation of entire miseries.47 Activities conducive for meditation
Not to speak untruth is perfect Samadhi.48 For meditation purity of conduct is necessary, pursuing meditation without knowing the truth is useless.49 Daśāśrutaskandha also refers to ten conditions causing Samadhi.
Posture
The ninth chapter Upadhanaśruta of Acaränga is an illustration of the role assigned to meditation in the life of an ascetic. The posture Ukkuduāsaṇiya (Utkuṭukāsanika) associated with Mahāvīra is found several times in canonical texts.50 The Posture of Gūhikā (milking cow) is mention in, Acārāngacūlā, 15/ 38, Sthanānga, 5/50 and Daśāśrutaskandha 7/30.
