________________ (iii) Karmas in this world. Chitravega told that I am not worried about myself but for my beloved whom the Nabhovahana has by force took away. In the meanwhile an incident took place. A very handsome Deva descended from the sky. Chitravega, with respect paid his obeisance to him and asked the details about his previous birth and also for what work Deva left him after giving that Mani. Then Deva replied: There is a city named Vijayavati in Aryadeśa of Airāvata region of Jambudvipa. There lived a merchant named Dhanabhūuti with his wife Sundari. Sundari gave birth to a child who was later named as Sudharma. When Sudharma was eight years old, Sundari gave birth to another child. After some time there arrived a Jaina saint Sudarsana and stayed in the Nadana garden. Dhanabhūti went to hear the sermon of the saint. Hearing the sermon Dhanabhūti felt the futility of the world and got initiated. Before Sudarśana Muni went for Sallekahanā, he made Sudharma Muni Acāraya of the Samgha. The second son of Dhanabhūti, Dhanavāhana Kumar became young and got married with Anangavati, daughter of Haridatta Śresthi of Supratistha Nagara. Once Sudharma Sūri visited Vijayavati. Dhanbhūti came to Sudharma Sūri with his family to listen the preachings about Jaina religion. Dhanavahana being engaged in loveplay with her wife did not visit Sadhu Bhagavanta. Sudharma Sūri seeing the indulgence of his younger brother in material world got anxious and called Dhanavahana to him. Acarya told him not to waste the precious life being caught by the material pleasure and to learn about essence of Dharma. Dhanavahana told to Sudharma Suri that he can not do that as he loves his wife very much. Then the saint briefed him about the wicked nature of the women. He added though your wife is very beautiful but ultimately she is way to hell. Dhanvahana was impressed with the words of Acarya and got ready to be initiated on the condition that his wife will also be initiated with him so that he could see her once in a day. Both were initiated. Dhanavahana under Acarya and Anangavatīi under Mahattară Chandrayaśā started practising vratas. But still they were bound with the thread of love which was not good for Samgha. Sudharma Sūri succeeded Dhanavahana to understand that affection is the cause of the bondage. Dhanavāhana realised the fact and both being freed from affection started practising true religion.
