Dictionary of Jaina Terms (Prakrit to English /Hindi) by Mukul Raj Mehta, contains in alphabetical order the Jaina technical terms in Prakrit, selected from over 250 Jaina texts and commentaries. This dictionary contains transliteration, English and Hindi meaning of the term along with the definition of the term in Prakrit as occurred in the text and its transliteration with reference. . Pub. Kala Prakasana, Varanasi 2000, p. 250. Jaina Kosa Literature : 153 simplify finding terms in Roman alphabetical order. For example, it has separate categories of A (aa), Ś (Sh) and Ș (not found in English). This dictionary is likely to facilitate the uniform use of English terms for the Jaina technical terms. Pub. Rṣabha Candra, it contains 8,000 proper names, occurred not only in Ardhamagadhi Jaina canonical texts i.e. of Śvetambar tradition but found in their commentaries viz. Niryukti, Bhāṣya, Cūrṇi also. As the title suggests, proper names occurring in the Sanskrit comm. of canonical texts, not included. Of course, Sanskrit commentaries have been utilised for supplementing the information available in Prakrit original canonical texts and Prakrit commentaries, thereon. For this purpose more than 90 works, belonging to tradition of Jainas: Śvetambar and Digambar, as well as that of Buddhist and Brahmanic have been utilised. In conformity with Leśyakośa and Kriyakośa, the compilers have applied the International Decimal classification system in arranging the subject -matter. This work, a handy reference book, is very useful for source material on Mahāvīra, particularly for Śvetambar version of his biography.
