________________ Dialect and Sub-dialects of Prakrit : 47 pi tānam harinā lamantim te lāhike peśka kudan gaanmar VII Genitive singular (nas) is substituted by śća (Pu. XIV 3, RT IL 3.12, Mk XIV 5) e g. pulisassa atthe. Locative singular (11) is substituted by mm (Pu XIV 4, RT. II 313) eg peśka gharammi kanham. Sometimes it ends in e, (Mk XIV 6} eg peska vane vi edam IX The termination of Vocative is o and ā, but they are used in two different senses (a) When used respectfully it always ends in o (Mk XIV 2) e g bhasțako tum malāälavesi (b) But when it is not used respectfully, it ends in ä, (RT II 3 14) eg kaha ettha ycedā āneśı me ayija vi na kkhu vedhani X The nominative plural of pronouns, irrespective of Masculine and feminine, ends in e (Mk. XIV 4) XI Some pronominals substitutions (RT II 315) e g. tvadīya> tuhakelia, madiya> mahakelia, ātmiya> appānaakelia XII. The gerundial suffix ktvā is substituted by ia, (Pu, XIV 8, Mk, XIV 8) XIII va is optionally used in place of iva (Pu. XIV 7, RT II 313) XIV. The interjection arū is used in place of are (RT. II 3 15) 4. Šābarī The Sābarī vibhāsā is another variety of Māgadhi(Pu, XV 1, RT II. 3 16) But Mārkandeya (Mk XV 1-2) derives it from Gāndāli as well as from Sauraseni and Māgadhi (cf NŠ XVII 53-64) It is said that this dialect is spoken by the charcoalburners, by hunters and by those who make their livlihood by boats and by woodcutting (RT II 316) In this dialect the want of agreement between the former and the later sentences is noticed The peculiarities of this dialect are to be gathered from the usages of the poets (RT II 321 cf Mk XV 8) Deśī vocables
