12. All those Purānas which do not specifically mention the
celestical years need not be taken to be interior to the so called astronomical period These may not be aware of the new reckonings of time cooked up by the astrono mers On the contrary those which impose the celestical years can be safely placed in the post-astronomical period. The Vīşnu Purāna contains clear evidence of its awareness of the approach of the astronomers It talks of a co-relation between the coincidnce of planets and the extent of the ages (4-24-102)
