He remarks-"The shadow problems, primitive cases of Trigonometry and Gnomonics suggest a similarity among these three writers, yet those of Mahaviracharya are much better than are to be found either in ब्रह्मगुप्त or भास्कराचार्य and no question is duplicated. The Jains have been great Historians and Biographers. They have most accurately reco. rded the historical events of their times. Jain Rasas, Pattavalis, inscriptions on monuments and on the pedestals of images have supplied materials to many historians for writing authentic history and biographies. Hemchandra, Merutunga, Haribhadra and others are famous for writing many historical works of great authenticity. The Jains have contributed much in many of the departments of literature but in the short space of this booklet it is not possible to give an exhaustive list. But from the bare outline of Jain works given above a sufficient idea can be formed of the great services Jainism has done to literature in general.
