भगवती सूत्र शः २ उः ५ जियकोहा जियमाणा जियमाया जियलोहा जियनिद्दा जिइंदिया जियपरीसहा जीवियासा-मरणभय-विप्पमुक्का जाव...कुत्तियावणभूया बहुस्सुया बहुपरिवारा पंचहि अणगारसएहिं सद्धिं संपरिवुडा अहाणुपुब्वि चरमाणा गामाणुगामं दूइज्जमाणा सुहंसुहेणं विहरमाणा जेणेव तुगिया नगरी जेणेव पुप्फवईए चेइए तेणेव उवागच्छंति उवागच्छित्ता अहापडिरूवं उग्गहं उग्गिण्हित्ता णं संजमेणं तपसा अप्पाणं भावेमाणा विहरति ।
___ In that period. at that time, a progeny of (Arhat) Pārsva, Sihavira Bhagavān, born in a high line and noble family, endowed with power and physical grace, humility, knowledge, faith, conduct and restraint, with little hankering in objects, with great firmness of mind, body and speech, widely renowned, with anger-pride-attachment-greed conquered. with slumber and organs of senses subdued, with passions overpowered, care-free of life as well as death,...till a complete store-house27 of all realisations and high traits, master of many sacred tests, , with a large following of devotees, came, in course of his usual wanderings from village to another, in the company of 500 monks, to the caitya named Puşpavati' in the north-eastern direction of the city of Tungikā, and halted there, enriching his soul by restraint and penance.
तए णं तुगियाए नयरीए सिंधाडग-तिअ-चउक्क-चच्चर महा-पह-पहेसु जाव...एगदिसाभिमुहा णिज्जायंति । तए णं ते समणोवासया इमीसे कहाए लद्धट्ठा समाणा हट्ठ-तुट्ठा जाव...सद्दावेंति सद्दावित्ता एवं वयासिएवं खलु देवाणुप्पिया ! पासावच्चिज्जा थेरा भगवंतो जाइसम्पन्ना जाव... अहापडिरूवं उग्गहं उग्गिण्हित्ता णं संजमेणं तवसा अप्पाणं भावेमाणा विहरंति । तं महाफलं खलु देवाणुप्पिया ! तहारूवाणं थेराणं भगवंताणं नाम-गोयस्स वि सवणयाए। किमंग पुण अभिगमण-वंदण-नमसण-पडिपुच्छणपज्जुवासणयाए जाव...गहणयाए ? तं गच्छामो णं देवाणुप्पिया! थेरे भगवंते वंदामो नमसामो जाव...पज्जुवासामो। एयं णे इहभवे वा परभवे वा जाव.. आणुगामियत्ताए भविस्सइ ।
