A comparative study of both the tables of contents makes it clear. that the table of contents given in the Nandi is a brief one, and that of the 'Samawa-o' large. The volume of the Sutra, too, becomes short and long according to the tables of contents.
That the 'ckottarika Vriddhi' (Increasing one by one) takes place upto hundred is mentioned in both the accounts. In either of them, there is no mention of the 'Anekottarika Vriddhi'. The Anekottarika Vriddhi has not at all been mentioned in the Nandi Čarni, Haribhadriyä Vritti and the Malaya Girlyavṛitti, all the three Abhayadeva Abhayadeva Süri has discuss the Anekottarika Vriddhi in his Vritti of Samawäyänga. According to him, the Ekottarika Vriddhi takes place upto hundred and beyond that the Anekottarika Vriddhi."
It appears that the Vṛittikära has discussed it not on the account given in the "Samawäyänga' but on the text then available to him.
On reviewing both the accounts, two questions arise
1. Is not the present Samawayanga different from the account of the Samawäyänga given in the Nandi ?
2. Is the present Samawäyänga is of the Vaćna by Devardhigani? If so, why then such a variation in both the accounts of the 'Samawayanga'?
In reply to the first question, it can be said that 'Dwadasanngi' is the final content of the Samawäyänga-Sutra according to the account, relating to the Samawäyänga, given in the Nandi. Many a content has been expounded beyond the 'Dwadasangi' in the present Samawayanga. It is therefore, established that the present volume of the 'Samawayanga' is different from that of the account of the Samawäyänga given in the Nandi.
