________________ Notes. 221 12. 56. The twelfth vow of an upāsaka is usually called अतिहिसंविभाग, sharing one's food with monks nuns and othar visitors; here the wording is slightly changed and is. अहासंविभाग which the Com. explains as follows :--अह त्ति यथासिद्धस्य स्वार्थं निर्वर्तितस्येत्यर्थः, अशनादेः समितिसंगतत्वेन पश्चात्कर्मादिदोषपरिहारेण विभजनं साधवे दानद्वारेण वि भागकरणं यथासंविभागः. The aticāras are :-- ( 1 ) सचित्तनिक्लेवनया, putting food in the midst of raw seeds so that the monk should not accept it and still the upasaka might think that he was generous. सचितेषु श्रीह्यादिपु निक्षेपणमन्नादेरदानदुध्या सचित्तनिक्षेपणम् ; ( 2 ) सचित्तपेहणया, covering food ( पेहणा, पिधान ), with seeds, raw fruits; ( 3 ) काला इक्कम, neglecting the appointed time of monks for begging alms and keeping them ready before or after; कालस्य साधुभोजनकालत्यातिक्रम उल्लंघनं कालातिक्रमः । अयमभिप्रायः' कालमूनमधिकं वा ज्ञात्वा साधवो न ग्रहीष्यन्ति शास्यन्ति च यथायं ददाति' एवं विकल्पतो दानार्थमभ्युत्थानमतिचार इति ; ( 4 ) परववदेस, making a pretence (व्यपदेश) that the food etc. belongs to others, 1 परकीयमेतत्तेन साधुभ्यो न दीयते इति साधुसमक्षं भणनम्, अथवा अस्माधानान्मम मान्त्रादेः पुण्यमस्ति इति भणनम् ( 5 ) मच्छारिया, मत्सरिता, acting from jealousy of others, 'अपरेणेदं दत्तं, किमहं तस्मादपि कृपणो होनो वा, अतोऽहमपि ददामि ' इत्येवंरूपो दानप्रवर्तक विकल्पो मत्स Rar. The Com. here has a long digression on the distinction between a , violation, and an enfant, offence;. in there is a tendency not to do the act, while in अतिचार there is tondency to do the act, but there is some deficiency in the act. The Com, says that he has interpreted the aticāras with this meaning of the term in mind. Ho adds further :--- पञ्चपञ्चाइयारा ओ जे सुतम्म पक्षिया । ते नावहारणद्वार किं तु ते उवलक्खणं ॥ ,
