________________ Notes 245 माहणे त्ति, मा हन्मि न हन्मीत्यर्थः; आत्मना वा हनननिवृत्तः परं प्रति मा हन इत्येवमाचष्टे यः सा माहनः स एव मनाप्रभृतिकरणादिभिराजन्म सूक्ष्मादिभेदभिन्न वहनननिवृत्तत्वामहान्माहन:. उप्पन्नणाणदंसणधरे, one who has acquired knowledge and faith as a result of the destruction of obsooring causes; 'आवरणक्षयेण आविर्भूते शान. दर्शने धारयति यः, तोयपडुप्पन्नमणागयजाणए, one who knows past (तीय, अतात), present (पडुप्पन्न, प्रत्युत्पन्न) and future (अनागत) times or things. I EI, saint to whom nothing is unknown; महाप्रातिहार्यरूपपूजाहत्वात् अर्हन, अविद्यमानं वा रह एकान्तः सर्वTRR AISTET:; this second explanation is probably an afterthought: .olsewhere we get an additional epithet of Mahavira, अरहस्समागी. of which it may be explanation. तच्चकम्मसंपयासंपउने, in possession of a wealth of meri torious deeds, तथ्यानि सत्फलाव्यभिचारतया यानि कर्माणि क्रियास्त. संपदा तत्समृद्धया यः संप्रयुक्त युक्तः स तथा. 50. 195. वायाहययं slightly dried by air; वायुना ईपच्छोपमानीतम्. 50. 196-200. These sections treat of the refutation of the Ājivika doctrine, Dlabāvīra first asked Sadàālapatta how he prepared his pots. Saddālapatta said that they were made of clay by moistening and mixing it with ashes and cow-dung and then putting it on the wheel. Mahavira then asked him whether - they were made by activity or without activity. To this Saddālapatta replies that they were made without activity, as he was trained to think in the Ājivika fashion. Mahāvīra asks him whether he would punish & man in ·case he does some damage to the pots and offends him in some other way. To this saddalaptta replies by saying, yes.
