Galileo (1564-1642) was the first mathematician who attempted to give a quantitative measure of probability. Later on Pascal (1632-62) and Format (1601-65) gave a foundation to the mathematical theory of probability. Acharya Kundkund (First Century A.d.) and Acharya Samantbhadra (Second Century A.d.) long back gave the qualitative aspect of probability and therefore their names should also be included in the list of contributors to the notion of probability.
