from an old Prasasti found in some old monastery. Secondly, this work is based on the account given by some old poets. The third reason is that the account found in other two works is incorporated in this work. This work again serves as a basis for the composition that forms, part, of Caturvimsati Prabhandha. It seems to us, therefore, proper to give a detailed summary of the life of Divakara as is found in the Prabandha that forms part of the Prabhavaka Carita. After giving. this summary we shall point out the small differences in some minor: details that are found in other works. This method will save repetition and still give a correct idea of the contents of other compositions as well. What was originally given and what was added subsequently. will be seen clearly from this summary.
