Served the M.S.University of Baroda as Research scholar in the Department of Archaeology from 1950 to 1952.
Served the M.S. University of Baroda as the lecturer in the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History from 1952 to 1958.
Served the same University as the Reader in the same department from 1958 to 1962. Served the same University as the Professor and Head of the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History from 1962 to 1982.
Served the faculty of Arts of the same University as the Dean from 1969 to 1975 and thereafter from 1980 to 1982 in addition of his duties as the Head of the Department of Archaeology and Antient History. He retired from the University services from 1983.
He Served the Gujarat Vidyapitha, Ahmedabad as the visiting professor
from 1984 to 1995. SPECIAL EXPERIENCE :
He had started his work in the field of Archaeology from 1948 onwards.
He directed the laboratory studies in the department of Archaeology for about two decades as the head of the department. He carried out research work in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhyapradesh. He contributed substantially in the field of prehistoric archaeology, Protohistoric and historical archaeology.
He successfully carried out excavations at many places in Gujarat and Madhyapradesh independently. He earned national and international name and fame for his publications on excavation works he carried out at Devnimori, Nagara, Jokha, Champaner and Valabhipur.

He carried out extensive research work on place-names of Gujarat namely Baroda, Ahmedabad, Surat, Khambhat, Padra and other places,
He carried out intensive research work on Vedas and Purānas. His work on Vishnu Purāna, Bhagavata Purāna, Skanda Purana, Malla Purāņa, Saraswati Purana and Padma Purāna are notworthy.
He also carried out deep studies on Jain Agamas and Buddhist Tripitakas,
He carried out research work on genesis and activities of the Baroda Museum and picture gallery, Baroda.
