Thus, in all, there may be fortyeight types of hero in love. 29 enumerates four upanāyakas who help these 1. Vidūṣaka; 2. Pitha-marda; heroes; 3. Vita and 4. Nāgarika. 30 defines Vidūṣaka. 31 defines Pithamarda. 32 defines Vita and Nagarika, 33 defines a Pratinayaka (the enemy of the by hero). F 34-35 enumerate a set of eight special excellences springing from their character (Sättvika) which these heroes possess in their youth. They are: 1. Tejas; 2. Vilasa; 3. Madhurya, 4. Sobha; 5. Sthairya; 6. Gabhiratā (= Gambhirya); 7. Audarya; and 8.
