________________ Vasanta In Prakrit Literature : 969 the life of common people, for, the word Prakrit itself is of this meaning. Larger number of common people was participating in the festival and as such Prakrit passages or verses abound in this aspect. If most of the verses of vernal description by Sanskrit poets are confined to the premises of palacial walls, and presented to the royal members, the verses of Prakrit poets are as if aimed at the justification of the point -- "literature is the mirror of common life" and are brought to the doors of common people. Hence, in the gāhās of Sattasai we find exclusively the Viraha of common men, especially of women who cannot speak in Sanskrit even in dramas. In some cases this Vasanta is considered by some heroines as the master of Vipralambha. Prakrit poets are aware of the gravity of situation pertaining to the Vipralambha of village ladies. In the verse of these authors the affliction of the ladies increasing by actimorious manners of Cupid, the pet friend of Vasanta is implicit. Some of these cuplets especially the gāhās of Sattasai seem to be inexplicable on account of want of relevant context, but a correct understanding with reference to the context will definitely bring clearance to the sweetness of the meaning. Some of these verses serve the purpose of a love-ditty or love-letter. Any way these literary piece of Vasanta are careful choices of poets in beauty and matter. The felicity of these pieces can easily arrest the hearts of readers. Like Sattasai, the Vajjālaggam of Jayavallabha also contributes to this field its heart-touching lyrical verses. Prakrit poets are solicitous to parade their brilliance in different designs of Viraha and as such the felicitous compositions on Vasanta and Cupid are marked by the poet's diligence. One can appreciate the acute observation of these authors, especially the authors of Sattasai while forming variously the viraha aspect in their own brilliant structure.
