________________
literature is remarkable for its originality and novelty. In the field of Poetics it has been preserved for us by Hemacandra and Hemacandra alone. There is a solitary reference by Kumarasvāmin, the author of Ratnāpaņa, a commentary on Pratāparudriya to the final position-the concluding lines (f.n. 11)-which he introduces with the words : "377 37121 TAO" Kumarasvāmin, it would seem, thinks that the whole section on sättvikabhāvas is of Hemacandra himself.
In conclusion, we should be grateful to Hemacandra who by his preference for eclectic writing has preserved for us the gold-the precious and best portions and passages from his illustrious predecessors and is of immense help in improving the corrupt readings from the texts of his source-books : Abhinavabharati, Dhvanyālokalocana, Vakroktijivita, Śrngāraprakāśa, etc., and contributes to knowledge.

as if they were sthāyi-bhāvas, and some of the sthāyi-bhāvas are given as vyabhicări-bhävas of other rasas. The sāttvika-bhāvas, when the induvidual rasas are defind, are given as vyabhicāribhāvas.
