and vice-versa was frequent affair and so were the pilgrimages to religious places in Rajasthan and Gujarát; and this intercommunication was rendered all the easier by the fact that the inhabitants of these provinces, during our period, spoke a common language, generally termed Western Rajasthani.
It was really magnificent work that tbese Jain savants accomplished for Indian philosophy. Their peouliar of thinking made for toleration and let them appreciate truth wherever they found it. For truth is many-sided according to the Anēkāntavadin. What is true under a certain set of conditions need not necessarily be true under other circumstances; nor need it, however, be untrue either.
Brahman philosophers-We have mentioned above the names of Brahman philosophers studied in Haribhadra's time. For the postHaribhadra period, we have to add the names of Sankaranandana, Kanada, Aksapada, Vatsyayana, Bbáradvaja Uddyōtakara, Váchaspati, Vyõnašiva, Aniruddha, 36 Sridhara, Vatsächārya, Udayana, Jayanta and Harsa. Sankaranandans of the Ganadharasārdhasatakabrhadvrtti appears to be the great Advaitio philosopher Sankara.
