The instantaneous killing of an animal by cutting its roat leads to a sudden cessation of the movement of the heart id so the machinery which purified food-raw food eaten by the imal-is stopped once for all and the limbs of the animal which main quivering for hours draw their supply from the unpurified od remaining in the belly of the dead animal. The uric acid intained in the food was formerly thrown out by the kidneys, e lungs and other excretory organs, but they, are stopped ith the action of the heart and the Uric acid remains in the ircass rendering the whole flesh poisonous. To this must be Ided the poison introduced by poisonous herbs eaten by asts and the additional quantity of Uric acid to be found in the sh itself. It is true that certain organs of man have got the wer of destroying germs and removing poison; but the ccessive demand made on them renders them ineffete. The -sh-juice introduced in the body paralyzes the white blood Ipuscles which are germicides and deprives the blood-serum its alkalinity which frees blood from parasites. The liver so suffers from exhaustion and so dyspepsia sets in. Under these circumstances, it is not surprising if a reophagist suffers from many harassing maladies. The Uric id gives rise to rheumatism, gout, mental disturbances and irious other diseases. Lenham says that animal diet raises e proportion of fibrine in human-blood, causing thereby neumonia and Rheumatism. The remedy for many of these seases is in total abstention from flesh-diet. In Rheumatism id gout, simple vegetable food, and dried fruits are prescribed ; diet for the patient. The classic treatment of scurvy was give to the patient fresh fruits and vegetable dict.
