1 Text ayūhinam payā hinam, Sk. å-dakshiva-pradakshinam; the ceremonious circumambulation of a person for the purpose of showing him reverence, done both at meeting and parting. It consists in walking three times round him, so as to keep one's right side constantly turned towards him. To do this one must start from the right of the person reverenced and come round to his left. It is commonly said to consist in moving from the left to the right. In that case, the left means the left of the reverencing person, which, of course, corresponds to the right of the person reverenced.
