________________ $ 4. ] Vivāgasuyam. Goyama, being thus spoken to by Miyādevî covered his face by means of the cloth-piece for the mouth. Then that Miyādevî opened the door of the subterranean house with her face turned away from it. Then there issued out from it a very bad smell which was like that of the dead body of a serpent, like that of the skeleton of a snake (here the rest to be supplied down to )-even much more vicious indeed (here the rest to be supilieit down to ) has the smell been described. Then that boy Miyāputta, greatly overpowered by the smell of the abundant food, drinks, eatables and articles of taste and greatly greedy of them, ate them away by his mouth, and having done so he at once digested them, and then turned them into pus ard blood, and ate away that pus and blood. Then having seen the boy Miyāputtaa, thought of this description occured to the reverend Goyama : “Oh, this boy experiences the bitter fruit of the heavy, wicked, unrepented, miserable, sinful acts done by him previously. I have not seen the hells or hell-beings but this man, indeed, suffers the pain of hell before my eyes." Having thought so he took leave of Miyādevî, and having done so he went out of the house of Miyādevî, and havirg done so he went out right organisms of the wind and other microscopic living creatures which would else be killed if they were to enter the mouth.
