________________ १६ तत्वानुशासन Jayasena's reference to the Dravyasamgraha and Soma-s'reşthin is taken as his acquaintence of Brahmadeva's commentary. What is obvious from Jayasena's remark is that he knew that one Dravyasamgraha was composed for Soma, and that could be the text which has been lately brought to light, iv) Here and there negative evidedence is used, and this can be easily questioned as a methodological defect. If an author does not show acquaintance with a work, it should not necessarily mean that he was earlier in time: in a big country like that of ours with meagre communications of the middle ages, other alternatives are equally admissible. All research is a progressive study. Authentic facts are more valuable than ingenious arguments, interpretations and construings which often melt away in course of time. We should, therefore, always have some regard for our predecessors who have brought relevant facts to light in the march of study. We are highly gratful to Pt. Jugalkishore Mukthar for giving us in this volume his solid and mature study of the Tattvanus/asana along with a learned Introduction rich in details. A. N. Upadhye Dhavla Kolhapur 4-7-63
