The necessity of incorporating all these aspects in a single work seems to have been felt as early as atleast the sixth or seventh century A. D. during which Vamana and Jayaditya of the Kasika fame flourished, and the same was also attempted by Bhojadeva in his Sarasvati-kanthabharana-vyakarana, with reference to the Paninian system. 6.3. Velankar has compiled in his Jinaratnakosa'17 the following notices of the Mss. of Buddhisagara's Pancagranthi Vyakarana : (1) The Inner Bhandara of Sri Harisagaragani of Jaipur, Vol. 13, p. 421, alluded to by Dhanesvara in his Surasundarikatha, in V. Sam. 1095; by Abhayadevasuri in his Pancasaka-vrtti, in v. Sam. 1124; by Jinacandra in his Samvegarangasala, in V. Sam. 1125; by Gunacandra in his Mahaviracarita, in V. Sam. 1139; by Jinadattasuri in his Ganadharasardhasataka; by Padmaprabha in his Kunthunathacarita; and lastly by Prabhacandra in his Prabhavakacarita, in V. Sam. 1334; (2) Catalogue of Mss. in Jesalmere Bhandars, published in the Gaekwad Oriental Series, Baroda, 1923, p. 56; (3) DC., p. 20, No. 176; (4) Shri Hamsavijayji Maharaj Bhandar, Baroda, No. 46; (5) Bada Bhandar of Jesalmere, No. 608 (Palm Ms.); (6) JG., p. 298; (7) Bhandar of the Bhanthaki Kundi, Jesalmere, No. 291; (8-9) List of Mss. in the Vadi Parsvanatha Pustaka Bhandar at Zaveri Wada, Patan. Nos. 1(12) and 22(6). 6.4. Out of these the editor of the present edition has been able to procure in the form of photo-print or original, the following four Mss. of the PGBV from the Jaina Jnana Bhandaras of Baroda, Jesalmere and Patan. 6.4.1. B Ms. This is a paper Ms. preserved in the Muniraja Shri Hamsavijayji Sastra Samgraha, Shri Jaina Mandir, Vadodara. It consists of 143 folios, and is listed in the catalogue at No. 46 with the name 'Buddhisagarakrta Vyakarana Pancagranthi'. It was copied in V. Sam. 1949 on Pos Sukla 10 Wednesday, with Gram. 7000. The other details of this Ms. are as follows : Length 30.3 Cmc.; Width 12.6 Cms. Left Margin / Right Margin 2.8 Cms. Triple vertical red lines marking the margins on the left and right. Single red line on the outer edge of a folio on the left and right. Upper Margin 2.3 Cms. Lower Margin 1.9 Cms. Lines per page 14, with about 62 syallables in a line, with no thumb space in the middle of the pages. Script Jaina devanagari. Style Khadimatra.
