The necessity of incorporating all these aspects in a single work seems to have been felt as early as atleast the sixth or seventh century A. D. during which Vamana and Jayaditya of the Kasika fame flourished, and the same was also attempted by Bhojadeva in his Sarasvati-kanthabharana-vyakarana, with reference to the Paninian system. 6.3.
