" oferufesca fattat: ofreats HHATH TEATTIA" (17) indicates that this was also compiled by him. But of all his works 'Nityachira paddhati' which was in course of time called 'Vidyakara Paddhati' maintained supreme hold in the field of Dharma sastra literature for about three centuries, till they were pushed to the back-ground by the voluminous works of Gadadhara Rajaguru of Puri (1700-1750 A, D.) Narasimha Vajapeyi a celebratel Smrti writer of Orissa of the second half of the 16th century refers to Vidyakara vajapeyi twice and quotes from Vidyakara paddhati nine times in the first two parts of his Nityachira Pradipa (18). Visvanatha Misra, who was posterior to Narasimha refers to Vidyakara seven times and citas from Vidyakara paddhati thrice in his Smrtisara Samgraha published in Oriya characters. Divyasimha Mahapatra refers to Vidyakara Vajapeyi twice in his 1969 which is still unpublished. In the 'Kalasarvasva' by Krshna Migra of the eighteenth century Vidyakara is mentioned four times and his Paddhati is found quoted once. : Raghunandan, the greatest Smrti writer of Bengal refers to Vidyakara and his Paddhati several times in his works, a list of which was first given by late M. M. Chakravarti (19) and has recently been critically examired by Sri Bhavatosh Bhattacharya (20). Vissvegvara Bhatta, the celebrated Smrti writer of Northern India refers to Vidyakara Vajapeyi in his catifeara as has been stated before. A close analysis of the publisheil volume of the Nityachira Paidhati shows that its author Vidyakara has made the largest number of quotations (24 times) from Kalpataru and referred to Kalpatari Kara thrice in his works, which in:licates that Kalpataru or Krtya Kalpatari by the celebrated Lakshmidhara Bhatta of Kasi (C1114-1154 A. D.) was a great source of inspiration to him. From the foregoing discussion it is evident that Vidyakara Vajapeyi, who was younger contemporary of the (17) . Nityachara paddhati P. % (18).
