________________ Shri Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra www.kobatirth.org Acharya Shri Kailassagarsuri Gyanmandir (xi) famous Chandesvara Thakura of Mithila and was almost of the same age as Madhavacharya, the celebrated Smrti writer of southern India caused a revival of Vedic culture in Orissa by his writing. RAMACHANDRA VAJAPEYI. From the FETETU and the last verse of a work namely प्रायश्चित्त दीपिका a palmleaf manuscript of which (Dh/91B) is preserved in the Manuscripts library of the Orissa State Museum, we know that its author Ramachandra Vajapeyi was the disciple of Samrat Agnichit Vidya-, kara and was the son of Samrat Surya Dasa. He wrote this work while living in the holy नैमिषारण्य e.g. : मङ्गलाचरणम् प्रणम्य परमात्मानमीश्वरं नरकेशरीम् तस्य संप्रीतये चैव लिख्यते रामपद्धतिः / समाजोग्निचिदो मत्वा विद्याकरगुरोः पदे राम: पद्धतिमादत्त प्रायश्चितस्य दीपिकाम् // शेषश्लोक ऋज्जीमेताग्निचिद् रामचन्द्रः सूतैकार्थी नैमिषारण्यवासः / सम्राजः श्री सूर्य्यदासस्य सूनुः प्रायश्चित्तपद्धति संव्यवत्त // इति श्री रामचन्द्रवाजपेयिविरचिता प्रायश्चितपद्धतिः समाप्ता। This Vidyakara is identical with the great Vidyakar: whose life history is given before. There is another palmleaf manuscript named कुंडलक्ष्मविवृति Jy/19(a), by Rama.
