What Is Moksha?
Questioner: What is the final liberation (moksha) and what is freedom (mukti)?
Dadashri: Both the words are closely related. They are “sons' of the same 'mother'.
If you want liberation (mukti) from all karma and you want full moksha, then you must first become free from ignorance (of the Self). This means that you are bound only by the ignorance. Once the ignorance has left, you will find that things will be simpler and straightforward; there will be peace and day by day, you will experience more and more bliss and You will find freedom from karma.
Moksha means to attain the awareness of being free. Even while living, the awareness of 'I am free should always be there. Moksha is no good to you after you die. That would be like a deception. Moksha should be instant 'cash', it is not acceptable if it is 'on credit' (pending collection; has yet to be experienced). These times are such, that if you ask someone to buy you vegetables, he is likely to charge you a commission for it! So then can you even accept moksha on credit in this day and age? If someone offers you such a moksha, you should say to him, ‘moksha in the next life’; tell him you do not want that kind of moksha if it is ‘on credit'.
