पोर्तुगीज़ पादरी पिनहरो (Pinheiro) के दो पत्रे ।
पिनहरो नामके एक पोटुंगीन पादरीने, लाहोरसे ता. ३ सितंबर सन् १५९५ के दिन अपने देश में एक पत्र लिखा था । उसका एक वाक्य डा. विन्सेंट ए. स्मिथने अपने अंग्रजी 'अकबर' नामके ग्रंथमें दिया है। वह वाक्य इस पुस्तकके १७१ वें पेजमें उद्धृत किया गया है। उसने जैनियों से संबंध रखनेवाली जो बातें उस पूरे पत्रमें लिखी थीं, वे ये हैं:
“ This King (Akbar ) worships God and the sun, and is a Hindu [ Gentile ]; he follows the sect of Vertei, who are liks inonks living in communities
congregationi 1 and do much penance. They eat nothing that has had life anima 7 and before they sit down, they:sweep this place with a brush of cotton, in order that it may not happen [ non si affironti ] that under them any worm for insect', vermicells] may remain and be killed by their sitting on it. १ पिनहराके इन दोनों पक्षों का अंग्रेजी अनुवाद सुप्रसिद्ध इतिहासकार डॉ. विन्सेंट ए. स्मिथन अपने त. २.--११-१८ के पत्र के साथ पूज्यपाद गुरुवर्य शायविशारद-जनाचार्य श्री विजयधर्मसूरि महाराज के पास भेजा था ।
