We retain the conjunct consonant in the indeclinable for and hence the preceding vowels in forerurat is shortened. Now we have no established short vowel fort as we have for f and 3 for Jr, but by convention the short vowel for st is 3, and hence we get the phrase fumigfog. Similarly of. fortuga in st. 34.
