પરિશિષ્ટ ૩ : અખબારોની નજરે પ્રતિષ્ઠા-મહાત્સવ
નોંધ :—આ પ્રતિષ્ઠા-મહાત્સવની ઉજવણીની સચિત્ર ધર્મકથા અખબારો મારફત દેશના જુદા જુદા પ્રદેશામાં પહેાંચી શકી હતી, તે એ કારણે કે, દેશનાં અનેક અખબારાના તથા જુદી જુદી સમાચાર– સંસ્થાના પ્રતિનિધિઓ, આ અનેાખા અવસરનાં ન કરવા માટે, જાતે પાલીતાણા આવ્યા હતા. જે જે અખબારામાં આ અહેવાલેા છપાયા હતા, તે બધાં વમાનપત્રાના કા પેઢીમાં સાચવી રાખવામાં આવ્યા છે.
વ માનપત્રામાં છપાયેલ બધા સમાચાર અક્ષરશઃ આ પુસ્તકમાં આપવાનું શકય તેમ જ જરૂરી ન લાગવાથી, દરેક અખબારમાં છપાયેલ સમાચારનું સંપાદન કરીને અને એમાંથી તારવીને મહત્ત્વના સમાચાર અહીં આપવામાં આવ્યા છે. આમ કરવા જતાં જે વન વધારે પ્રમાણમાં ખેવડાતું લાગ્યું કે ઓછું મહત્ત્વનું લાગ્યું તે કમી કરવું પડે એ સ્વાભાવિક છે. જ્યાં પ્રતિમાઓની સખ્યામાં હકીકત દોષ હતા તે, જે તે સ્થાને, સુધાર્યો છે; તથા શબ્દોની જોડણીમાં પણ સુધારા કર્યાં છે.
આમ છતાં, જે આ બધા સમાચાર અક્ષરશઃ વાંચવાની જિજ્ઞાસા ધરાવતા હશે, તે પેઢીના દફતરમાં સચવાયેલી આ સામગ્રીથી પેાતાની જિજ્ઞાસાને સતાષી શકશે. અખબારામાં પ્રગટ થયેલ આ મહાન પુણ્ય પ્રસંગના અહેવાલા, એક રીતે, દસ્તાવેજી પુરાવા જેવું મહત્ત્વ ધરાવે છે, એ કહેવાની જરૂર નથી.
આકાશવાણી ઉપરથી પ્રસારિત થયેલ સમાચારો તથા દૂરદર્શન (ટેલિવીઝન ) દ્વારા બતાવવામાં આવેલ ઉત્સવનાં દસ્યાનું વર્ણન અહીં દાખલ કરી શકાય એમ ન હેાવાથી એ બાબતને જતી કરવી પડી છે.

The historic Jain pilgrimage centre of Palitana has overnight become gay and colourful to celebrate the reinstallation of 525 (504) deities in the newly-constructed temple on Mt. Shatrunjay.
The religious festivities in this 1200 year-old town at the foot of the hills has already attracted more than 15000 pilgrims from the far corners of the country. And more are arriving by buses and trains to get a glimpse of the consecration of the old idols, scheduled to be held tomorrow.
The ceremony will be held for the first time in 450 years.
An impressive pre-installation procession-Jalyatra was taken out today. ( Ahmedabad, 7–2–'76)
Amid chants of Jain Slokas and religious music, some 525 (504) idols of Jain deities were installed here to-day at the newly constructed temple on Mount Shatrunjay.
