SUTRA 3 cardicFNAGI II 311 Tannisargadadhigamadva (3) Confidence in the purpose of reality and orientation towards growth (samyag darshana) arise either - intuitively (nisarga) or - when we acquire a special kind of knowledge (adhigama). (3)
Intuition that activates our orientation towards growth (nisarga) is of an entirely different character than normal intuition.
Normal intuition is frequently accompanied by conflicting emotions: More often than not our premonitions conflict with our ideas how situations and events should happen. We usually are unwilling to reassess plans or opinions only because of some vague foreboding. Using the power of our intellect we try to overrule our heart and to rationalize this kind of ominous intuition as unfounded and illogical.
This conflict between intellect and emotion characterizes all normal intuition: we never know if we should follow it or not, too often have we been led astray. And - irrespective of how often our intuition had been right, - feelings of doubt and insecurity accompany this process and will continue to be there in the future.
Intuition that causes us to orient towards growth (samyag darshana) differs fundamentally from uncertain premonition.
When we intuitively orient towards growth, we neither feel doubt nor hesitancy. We experience this as a sudden understanding, a crystal-like recognition of the blockages that only seconds ago obscured our consciousness. It feels as if we step into the light, are finally able to see clearly. An immense freedom caused by the dissolution of the obstruction is flooding our heart, - an elation always accompanied
