________________ SUTRAS THE KEY TO THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE 119 do not perceive our interactive karmic field that consists of karmic matter (subtle molecules) and surrounds us permanently.53 SUTRA 27 truoaa: 11 26 11 Rupisvavadheh (27) Extrasensory perception (avadhi) perceives all that has form, but not all its features. (27) Extrasensory perception (clairvoyance, telepathy etc.) is limited to the range of matter (pudgala). This channel does not perceive any of the non-material elements. Though it perceives subtle forms, it is unable to recognize all forms matter can assume. 53 The space our body occupies contains an infinite number of karmic molecules. These molecules operate in a different range than the molecules of matter and are also far smaller. They cannot be directly perceived by our senses. If - by our inclinations and intentions - we stimulate a (limited) number of these karmic molecules, they either cause immediate activity or attach to our interactive karmic field in a latent form to manifest activity at a later point in time. Without this stimulation by our intention and activity - that connect our consciousness (jiva) to karmic matter (ajiva) - karmic molecules have no effect, even if they take up the same space as our body. Those karmic molecules attached to our interactive karmic field remain only within the limits of the bodies we inhabit during incarnations. Apart from manifesting activity they have no further function Individual karma is not stored outside our bodily form. The activation of karmic molecules brings their latent energy into a form we can experience. Activation totally dissolves the bond between our consciousness and the manifested karmic molecules. After they manifested activity, the corresponding karmic molecules cease to influence our life. Jain Education International For Personal & Private Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
