________________ 112 HERMANN KUHN SUTRAS SUTRA 22 1437HFAFATI: uçfadory: 109 11 22 11 Kshayopashama nimittah sadvikalpah shesanam (22) Human beings and animals experience six types of extrasensory perception (avadhi) once their respective karmas are dissolved. (22) Extrasensory perception is blocked by several types of karma. The strongest block totally prevents access to this channel. The weaker blocks interfere with the clarity with which we experience clairvoyant and telepathic activities. We begin to perceive the world beyond our senses when the respective karmic bonds are either completely dissolved or become temporarily inactive. In the second case we experience clairvoyance for some time, but lose it again. Extrasensory abilities arise when we dissolve the prejudices and misconceptions (our karmas) that obstruct this type of perception - and by recognizing and amplifying this special sensation each time it occurs. Once we orient towards growth, we automatically activate factors that advance our clairvoyant and telepathic abilities. Since devas and narakas experience clairvoyance by birth, the sutra emphasizes that human beings can acquire this ability only by their own efforts. Extrasensory perception occurs in six variations: 1 - Accompanying (anugami) - We take our ability to use this chan nel with us when we move to another place or from one incar nation to the next. 2 - Fleeting (ananugami) - We lose this kind of perception once place or circumstances change.
