२७७. वर्षावास में वहां रहा हा साधु किसी भी प्रकार की चिकित्सा करवाने की इच्छा रखता हो तो इस सम्बन्ध में सारा कथन पूर्वसूत्र के समान ही समझना चाहिए। २७८, वर्षावास में स्थित श्रमरण कोई एक प्रकार का श्रेष्ठतम तप-कर्म-तपश्चर्या स्वीकार कर विचरण करने की इच्छा करे तो प्राचार्यादि की अनुमति के बिना करना नहीं कल्पता है । इस सम्बन्ध में भी सारा कथन पूर्व-सूत्र के समान ही समझना चाहिये। २७६. वर्षावास में स्थित भिक्षु सब से अन्तिम मारणान्तिक संलेखना (अनशन) का आश्रय लेकर उस अनशन द्वारा शरीर को नष्ट करने की इच्छा से पाहार और पानी का त्याग कर, पादपोपगत - वृक्ष की तरह निश्चल होकर, मृत्यू की आकांक्षा नहीं रखता हमा विचरण करने की अभिलाषा रखे और इस दृष्टि से कहीं जाना और पाना चाहे, अथवा (अनशन करने के पूर्व) अशन, पान, खादिम और स्वाद्य पदार्थों को भक्षण करने की इच्छा करे, अथवा मल-मूत्रादि त्याग
277-279. The same procedure should be followed if a monk desires a medical cure or wants to make a great ascetic endeavour; also if he wishes to undertake a fast till he breathes his last by giving up all food and drink and by becoming motionless like the trunk of a tree, awaiting death without wanting it; and with this aim in mind he wants to go to or come to some place or to partake of certain food-stuffs, or togo out for easing nature, or to undertake canonic studies or to keep religious vigils. He should not do any of these without permission.
